Eric Clapton Drummer Jim Gordon Lifeless At 77

Jim Gordon, the Grammy-winning rock drummer, identified for his collaborations with Eric Clapton and George Harrison, has died on the age of 77. In keeping with an announcement obtained by the Los Angeles Instances, the musician handed away at a California Medical Facility in Vacaville of pure causes following “an extended incarceration and lifelong battle with psychological sickness.” 

Gordon initially rose to fame as a drummer for the blues rock supergroup Derek and The Dominos, and later labored with a number of different notable artists, together with Steely Dan, Alice Cooper, Tom Petty, and Tom Waits, amongst others. His life took a tragic flip in 1983 when he was recognized with schizophrenia after murdering his 72-year-old mom in 1983. He was sentenced to 16 years to life in jail for his crimes. Gordon shall be remembered for his contributions to Derek & The Dominos’ 1971 hit “Layla,” which he co-wrote with Clapton and for which he gained his first and solely Grammy Award.
