It is no accident that not one of the slogans on our sight makes reference to the Republican Party.  It is all but inevitable that if our country is to be saved in the near term (i.e. saved before it is utterly destroyed and has to be rebuilt from scratch) the “savior” will come from the GOP.  But that is no guarantee that the Republicans will always be our friends or we theirs.  Indeed, much of our current trouble can be traced to an over-reliance on that party and over-confidence in its support of a limited government agenda.  The history of politics is filled with cases where the ideas of one extreme come to fruition when adopted by a politician of the other extreme (see “Nixon going to China”).  And so when the GOP abandoned fiscal restraint it left that cause completely undefended.  The last year, in fact, has been eerily reminiscent of the 1930’s when Hoover’s attempts to intervene in the economy made the depression even worse AND opened the doors for Roosevelt to intervene 100 times as much (and make the depression worse still!)  But since there was no longer any party on the side of economic common sense, the madness raged on!

The lesson is clear: we must be on guard against Republican perfidy, perhaps even more than Democratic audacity, because the greater danger always comes from behind.  At the same time, if the GOP can be a vehicle for the coming revolution of freedom, let’s cheer them on!
